Vito Schiuma, pianist, mandolinist and composer from Apulia, Italy. Vito Schiuma starts tickling the ivories at age 7. Since the beginning he stands out in numerous piano recitals as solo pianist with pieces by Beethoven, Mozart and Haydn.
During his academic career at “N. Piccinni” Conservatory of Music in Bari he performs in important projects such as “The Seasons” by Tchaikovsky and he is appreciated in international piano competitions such as “Città di Corato”.
Vito Schiuma is noted for his attitude in Harmony, Counterpoint and Analysis under the guidance of M° Riccardo Ceni and in Music History with M° Carlo Lo Presti.
During his Piano Studies he is introduced in the art of Mandolin at the above mentioned Conservatory by M° Mauro Squillante and Maria Cleofe Miotti, with whom he has the chance to play in countless concerts for Orchestra (Conservatory Plectrum Orchestra) and mandolin ensemble (Ensemble Federiciano). In 2008 his trio is awarded with the absolute First Award in the Competition “Città di Sannicandro”.
At age of only 21 years old Vito Schiuma graduates in Piano Performing Study. After this accomplishment he learns jazz improvisation with jazz pianist Mirko Signorile. In 2010 he is chosen by Josh Charles to learn the New Orleans Piano Style in New York City, where he has the chance to start getting acquainted with the rhythms and features of jazz, blues, gospel and r ’n b music as played in the birth town of Jazz.
In 2013 he commences the study of the transposition of Apulia popular music into classical piano masterpieces by Apulia artists emigrated in Argentina, among whom Armando Schiuma and Alfred Louis Schiuma.
In March 2015 his first piano solo album comes out. This premiere includes Apulia popular melodies arranged in a very personal piano style which goes from classical music to blues and contains composed and improvised parts.
Vito feels honored to have played on stages in Bari, Rome, New York, Los Angeles and New Orleans.
